OPENING WEEKEND for the restaurant! It signals the end of a long, long winter. The inn has been full of wonderful smells from the kitchen as we test out all the new (and returning favorite) recipes. Thanks to all our friends who have so graciously stopped on in to taste test the new items. The eggplant parmagiana got rave reviews from Lynn & Job this week, and the best compliment ever was when our 2 teenage daughters had seconds (then we told them it was a vegetable!!).
The gardens are really starting to sprout up and I plan on having some plants to share and or swap as soon as I get into the garden to split some out.o
A really great article appeared in the Advitiser Democrat last week, entitled “Lake House changes Lives” The article was about the people of the Progress Center in Norway Maine coming to the Inn to do arts & crafts. I am trying to make this a monthly event. Anyone who would like to donate some art supplies to the cause, or their expertise let me know.
Our Maine Kitchen has opened as well, our new bakery division. Please check out the website (under construction still) www.ourmainekitchen.com for a list of goodies that can be ordered and that will be available soon through the Progress Center Market on Wednesdays and also to be seen at local Farmers Markets this summer.
The most exciting news this week is that I found some of Don’s family on Facebook recently. I connected with his cousin Euell who was in the market for a location for a simple wedding and honeymoon…. She chose to get married at the Inn here this Tuesday afternoon. this will certainly be the most personal elopement we have hosted to date. I will post pictures ASAP. What a perfect way to begin our season !
Coming soon:
Crafting Cottage list of May/June classes & workshops
Fibromyalgia support group forming here at the Inn
Fundraising opportunities

I noticed all the spelling mistakes in my first post, I willkeep an eye on that going forward. April has been a very busy month at the Inn. The best news is that my daughter,Katie, has returned to Maine to finish out high school here. I have attached a picture of Katie & Kayla who both live with us now.
This month we have had 2 elopements and one gentleman has popped the question so love is alive & well at the Lake house. The restaurant opens to the public April 30th. Lots of new items, a childrens menu and lower prices….. We have listened to all the comments over the past 4 seasons of what our clients wanted and we think we may have it now. Myra, Allyson’s mother is running the kitchen this year and the “lovingly made by Grandma” really comes through in her cooking. Some new menu items includes Eggplant Parmigianae, hers is an old family recipie, served with salad and pasta for $13.99. Other new menu items include Chicken Pot Pie, Bolganese over pene,Encrusted Salmon,Steak Cut of the day. Lucky patrons will be at the Inn when Don has prepared his now infamous Pork Shoulder. Don braises and smokes his pork shoulder in a mixture of a spice rub and a liquid that Don will not even share with me. With some greens and cornbread what an amazing treat!
We have another wedding next week, and we are almost ready to start up our Cardmakung/Scrapbooking monthly club.If you are interestedlet me know is 207-583-4182.
From the CRAFTING COTTAGE – get 3 or more people together for a papaercrafting retreat of 1 day to 3 day. Some great ideas:

Everyone works on pages of a scrapbook for her. Bind it for her beore you leavupse. What a special 2 days of crafting, eating and laughing. All equipment, paper types, embellishments etc. is supplied. Prices vary based on # of days, and food packages chosen.
This package would be great for any group of people, a girl scout troop reunion, friends who found each other on facebook. Small church groups. How about a a bride to be with a few family and friends and Make your save the date, invitations, thank you notes, and an outline of ascrapbook, where you could just add the journalling and pictures,
